With the rigours of election taking its toll on Barack Obama, and the world weatching hopefully as he stepped up to deliver his winning speech as president elect and the first ever black president, Senator Obama could be forgiven for forgetting for a moment the little island of Cyprus, nestled away in the mediterrenean sea.

But they have not forgotten him.

Wednesday, the day Barack Obama was formally accepted and the world reflected, the Cyprus government pledged its commitment and support to the future Obama Administration, championing his policies and beleifs, not to mention his commitment to a resolution of the issues surrounding Cyprus reunification.

A governemnt spokesman cordially announced that,

“Obama has made specific declarations which we welcome. We hope that these declarations will be fulfilled”,

and it is a symbolic gesture of well wishing that matches Obama’s desire to help with Cyprus Reunification that he discussed openly in the run up to the primaries, when he stated that “There must be a just and mutually agreed settlement of difficult issues like property, refugees, land and security”.

The growing relationship between Obama and the Cypriot government is good news for all those in favour of Cyprus reunification, and it is high time that a political heavyweight like the American president elect weighed in with his thoughts; the island has now been divided since 1974, when the North of the island, close to the Turkish mainland, was invaded by troops sent by Ankara to protect the Treaty of Guarantee against the Greek coup.

Stalemate set in when Ankara decreed that North Cyprus be known as the TRNC in 1983, dispelling any hope that a resolution for Cyprus reunification was a work in progress.

It remained that way for a number of years, as presidents Rauf Denktash of North Cyprus and Tassos Papadopoulos, power wielder in the Republic of Cyprus, remained completely resolved against Cyprus reunification.

Now though, the two sides of the island have leaders worth noting, in Dimitris Christofias and Mehmet Ali Talat, and the island is in spirits to welcome Cyprus reunification just as much as they are ready to congratulate Obama on his road to presidency, and his commitment to resolution of the Cyprus reunification issue.

But why is Obama so keen to see the Cyprus reunification issue resolved? Why is Cyprus reunification so important? Take property in Cyprus as one case in point; when the Annan Plan Referendum in 2004 nearly led to a resolution of the Cyprus reunification issue, property prices soared.

Now as the issue comes back on the cards again, they accelerated, and property in Cyprus, flourishing as it is, is leading to the brilliant economic strength of an island that, despite its size, is one of the only appreciating markets in the world.

It is clear, then, why Barack Obama is so interested in the little island of Cyprus, and why they are so ready to congratulate a man who might hold the final key to the lock of Cyprus Reunification, covered once with nettles and thorns, and now slowly clearing to see the light of the sky.

Martin Gavin, resident sage on the complexity of Cyprus reunification, writes for http://www.whiterocksbafra.com

The downturn in the U. S. housing market has impacted all of us, but perhaps has been the most painful for some of the nation’s seniors–those needing to make a lifestyle change. Here’s more:

The current housing market has especially hit those seniors who are ready to move into a senior facility but who need to sell their current homes to be able to do so.

The fact is, seniors personally pay for most of their housing needs, and the payments required to move into retirement communities can be staggering. This means that the move is typically contingent upon the sale of a single-family home.

“The idea is that a senior has built up equity in [a] house, and this assures that they can have care for the rest of their lives,” says Larry Minix, of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.

But what if they can’t find a buyer? And, with the current glut of unsold houses in many markets, even reducing the asking price may not solve the problem. The clogged housing market, coupled with the over-building of seniors’-oriented housing in many metropolitan areas, has resulted in rising vacancies in these facilities–particularly where the housing market is most distressed. Tampa, Florida, for example, is experiencing a 12 percent vacancy in senior housing units, up dramatically from four percent last year.

Some enterprising retirement-home operators have turned to real estate agents to help their prospective residents to sell their old homes. The problem with this strategy, of course, is that elders’ homes are frequently dated or need substantial repairs and renovations in order to make them marketable. Outdated wallpaper, old appliances and poor maintenance, all characteristic of these houses, often deter buyers.

A 2008 survey by the American Seniors Housing Association found that nearly a quarter of seniors haven’t made a home improvement during the last decade, and nearly one-half report that they won’t spend money to attract a buyer. For many seniors, just as the real estate bust has depreciated the value of their primary asset–their homes–the value of their retirement accounts has recently plummeted as well.

A new national survey has found that 84 percent of Americans over age 50 expect that a family member will move into an assisted living facility during the next 10 years. Here are some details:

According to a recent study by the Coalition to Protect Choice in Senior Living, 84 percent of Americans over the age of 50 expect that one of their immediate family members will move into a senior living community within the next 10 years.

Fully 24 percent of Americans over the age of 65 expect the same for themselves. The poll found just more than half (51 percent) expect their parents will be living in a senior living project within the next decade; 15 percent expect the same for their spouse, and 10 percent for a sibling.

Prospective assisted living residents and their family members rank cost and quality of care as the most important factors when choosing an assisted living community.

They are also extremely budget-conscious when making assisted living decisions, and they’re looking to keep costs as low as possible. When asked which is more important when deciding on an assisted living community, 78 percent of respondents agreed with the statement, “It is difficult to find the quality you desire at the price you can afford.”

Prospective senior living residents and their family members cite the following community attributes as the five most important when choosing an assisted living community:

76%: The quality of personal care in the community

76%: The personal safety of the residents

74%: Cleanliness of the community

68%: Staff quality

57%: Management quality

The wonderful furry, finned and feathered beings that we choose to share our lives with, or should I say choose to share their lives with us, are so much more than simply ‘pets’ in our lives. In fact, I believe that they are the bearers of profound spiritual messages and prompters of insightful spiritual growth through their gentle, and sometimes not so gentle nudging. This is because our animal companions have access to, and are guardians of our Divine Blueprint or Soul’s Blueprint.

The Blueprint can be described as the divine ‘plan for the perfect unfolding of the highest potential for an individual soul’. It is a perfect state of consciousness, and can enable the awareness of the ‘ancient memories that lie deep within each of us’ to resurface. Being guardians of our Blueprints is a role of great magnitude for our companion animals and one that is not taken lightly. They see it as their life’s mission and utmost priority. In fact a happy animal is a sign of their satisfaction with our progress along our own individual paths. Certainly they have their own blueprints to develop and realize, but unlike many of us, their close ties to the spirit realm, allow them the strong ability to multitask and therefore help us while continuing their own development.

How could they possibly guide us, you may ask? In my private consultations I have seen it all. The animals are masters at their role and divinely creative in their work. To begin with let me share with you a little about one of my guides, ‘Lucero’ an Andalusian Stallion, likened to an ascended master of the equine realm, now in spirit form. We met, or shall I say our spirits met, somewhere around 1997. At that time I was in private practice as a Spiritual Psychotherapist and Kinesiologist and just ‘happened’ to attend an Animal Communication Workshop. Apparently Lucero had already planned for our ‘meeting’, and what was to transpire as I somehow managed to forget to bring the requested photos of my dog ‘Jiggs’, the love of my life, to the workshop, and instead consequently ended up connecting with him. His energy was literally jumping off the photo at me and I knew then that my life was about to change dramatically. Our connection was immediate and profound. I had never experienced divine universal love and acceptance the way I did in that moment. It was like a barrier had been broken for me and I could now see who I truly was. I knew that the flood of information that was coming through me was from a source much greater than me; in fact, I was channelling!

After driving home from my weekend away, with the feeling that my tires had never even touched the ground, it became very clear to me that the course of my life had changed, and that Lucero was the catalyst. He didn’t just choose me as the one being that he would work with and guide. As I got to know more about him over time I learned that he was the benevolent vehicle of change for many other healers as well. In fact, even from the spirit realm he has called together physical gatherings of healers, one of which I was lucky enough to attend last November in Canada. Lucero, the divine being of love and light is just one of the many souls who are in partnership with us for our soul’s benefit and growth.

Prior to this day, I had always known that my connection to and communion with god, spirit or the higher power was through animals and nature but what I didn’t know was that I would ever be helping others connect in this way professionally. Not until I had met Lucero anyhow. His ideas for me have definitely reshaped my life.

When doing consultations, some of the most common messages and teachings that I hear from the animals for humanity are as follows:

• Recognize that all beings have intelligence and sentient wisdom

• Love yourself and all living beings unconditionally

• Remain grounded and connected to the earths energy

• Live in the present moment

• Surrender to and accept where you’re at

• Follow your heart, follow your bliss

• Practice forgiveness

• Listen to your inner guidance

• Trust yourself

• Approach each day with a sense of wonderment

• Acknowledge yourself as the light beings that you are

• Meditate as often as possible

• Understand the naturalness of the circle of life – life, death and rebirth

If you tune in and pay attention, I’m sure you will witness your animal companions sharing some of these messages with you. If you don’t feel that you have mastered telepathy yet, you may just want to notice what they are showing you on the physical level. For example your indoor animal companion may be seeking out time in the bathroom, the one area where they can feel truly grounded via the plumbing, or perhaps they may want to lie down on you right on top of one of your chakras, always the one that needs a little healing and balancing by the way. They know what they’re doing and everything they do has a purpose. In consultations I am often asked by the animals to request that their person spend more time in meditation or for them to slow down a little and go through life a little more consciously taking time to smell the roses. When we don’t oblige the animals they will often try even harder to get our attention usually by some type of behaviour that we find unacceptable such as waking us up in the middle of the night. When your companion animal is trying to get your attention, always take note!

Acknowledging the sacred in our relationships with our animal companions is a must for anyone seeking true enlightenment. Recognizing that they come to us to guide us and heal certain aspects of ourselves including broken hearts, disowned or shadow aspects, and even physical ailments can give us a whole new perspective on the relationships that we have with them. Always remember that LOVE is their message.

You have worked hard your entire life and have finally decided to retire. The warmer climates of the south are appealing to you, but the United States retirement communities often are categorized by high prices making the retirement years financially stressful. Because of this, many Americans are opting to retire south of the border in one of Mexico’s beautiful communities that are ideal for retired people ready to enjoy the fruit of their years of hard work.

While Mexico is still less expensive than the United States and Canada, there prices are raising and closing the gap in expense. No one wants to have to come back out of retirement because the cost of living has become too high, so saving money where ever possible is a must.

The Mexican government, in an effort to help keep Mexico an appealing place for retirees and expatriates around the world, has a card especially created to give senior citizens a discount on many services and products that they are likely to need. The INAPAM card can be used for all legal residents of Mexico over the age of 60 years old.

The main aim of this article is to assist the people in how to buy a home for your own. There are various financing owners and rent to own options to get your own home. Home ownership is where you can afford and rent to own a home or use owner financing. There are certain developers and organizations where they help you in finding a home for rent and if you later decide to own the house the still help you in owning the house after completing the formalities. They will also offer you owner financing so that at the end of the lease or rental period you need not be struck as to what to do. You can take your own time and can also refinance whenever you wish to do so. Most of the home buyers find this financing as the easiest one. They do all the financing and you need not go to bank because the bank will not provide such financing.

By this way you will be the owner of the house even before you really buy it with the lease option. You will be given two to three years to take the pros of lease option. The lease option does in any way compel you to buy the house. If you are not interested you can just leave the home at the end of the lease period. It is only the offer given by the owner to benefit you to purchase the house but if you are not interested you can just walk out. We help you in all ways to own a house if you really wish to. We help in financing and refinancing. Only think you will need is a small amount in hand for down payment and a job that can make it possible to buy you a house. The builders provide you option and give a list of the owner financed homes and you can choose one among them and inform them. They will themselves personally assist you regarding the lease option and home financing and clear your doubts before you actually enter into the lease option. They also find you a house that will suit your request.

Calculate your payment

Firstly you will have to calculate the payment for the house. The general monthly payment is one percent of the price amount. For example, if the house cost one hundred and ten thousand dollars then your monthly payment will be one thousand one hundred dollars. This will not be the same for everyone and will differ according to the down payment, taxes and other variables than will differ from home to home and from buyer to buyer.

How it works

The organizations give their website address. All you will have to do is to browse and choose a house that will suit your needs. You can mention in it whether you would like to rent a home or rent to own with the lease option and other details. If you don’t find a home that suits you, the builder will help you find one. Once these are made clear they will discuss regarding the finance or the lease option. After this the application process and the house is handed over to you. There will be many persons and counsellors helping and guiding you to get the finance or loan that you will need. The lenders will guide regarding the loan process, answering your questions, and taking you step-by-step to home ownership.

Thus this method of getting a home for your own will benefit you and will also be less burden and you need not run from pillar to post for getting loans and finance since the builders themselves provide for the same. It is also optional so that you can lease it for certain period or buy it at the end of the lease.

Rent to Buy is a new approach which provides home buyers the opportunity of home ownership without taking on debt. It works like a normal rental agreement within a normally 20%-30% rental payment which is put towards the price of the home.

The federal government has been planning to boost the mortgage sector to meet the increased interest rates among much expectation. However, lenders apart from the bank have been banned because the funds provided by them have been dried up due to the global disaster.

The Government Treasurer Wayne Swan has recently announced a plan where nearly 4 billion dollars have been made available to meet the stress as a substitute for high value mortgages. But critics say that it will only further increase the pressure on interest rates. On the other hand this may help in secured market thus improving the market and cost of finance. They also feel that Four million dollars will not be enough. He said that the people are positive that the pricing and cost of the finance market will improve significantly with the government injecting four billion dollars into the securitization markets.

The Mortgage and Finance Association (MFA) is of the opinion that the interference of the government in this subject is a good thing. The association also says that this will retrieve the non banking sector. This will give the borrowers a huge number of products in the market and will also have competition on the interest rates. But some of the members of the association says that it a mixed view of the plan. Phil Naylor, Chief Executive of the association says that this move by the Government’s is sure to revive the non banking sector.

Thus this scheme on the one hand will benefit the liquidity in the market but it will create possible cost. The scheme will represent taxpayers to the housing market even though this coverage must be small if properly managed. The government is trying to ensure the survivability of small organizations by allowing them to admit funds. The government has laid rules by only accepting top rated and high quality mortgages. By this scheme the government feels that the increased interest rates can be curtailed and the lenders and the borrowers will benefit. Since the federal government has come forward to provide $4 million to meet the demand the high value mortgages will benefit a lot. As some of the members of the association say that the amount rendered by the government will not be sufficient the government is sure that this will do well to the products in the market. The government can allot more funds for the same if it finds that it will not be sufficient for the market. This plan will not only help the non banking sectors but also the borrower who will have safe hands to borrow or to mortgage. The banks will also benefit from this because of the increased global crisis. Economist feels that the federal government has taken correct step at the correct point of time to control the rate of interests.

Thus on the whole the above scheme of the government will benefit all sectors of the people and will also benefit the survival of the market and will generate potential costs.

Rates cut will not improve the property sales; this article will give details of the reason.

The recent interest rate cut will not improve the property sales in anyway, according to the ACT Real Estate Institute (REI). The Reserve Bank of Australia had reduced the rate of interest by 0.25 per cent and almost all the banks have also come forward to cut the interest rates on the mortgage customers. But these steps will in no way help the improvement of sales of property, says the REI.

Nearly every sector wanted the Government to cut down the charges and the bureaucratic procedures involved to encourage the developers and investors get back into the housing market. They also say that the government should, in addition, reduce the infrastructure taxes and charges that too in the new areas in the south-west and north-west centres. The crisis in the suburbs is the worst with 0.1 per cent to 1.2 per cent drop. The low income group is put to lot of stress and because of this some people are turning towards agricultural lands. It is very good to note that the Reserve Bank of Australia has taken steps to cut down the rates. But even then the government along with the Reserve Bank of Australia has to take steps to further cut down the interest rates so that we can find more potential buyers coming forward in the housing market.

On the other hand, the real estate agents are hopeful that the property market will surely improve by the spring season. The REI says that it will have to make further more cuts to enable and persuade the people to buy houses. The property market will not respond like the money markets where skilled sellers react right away or wait to know the reaction of the Reserve Bank of Australia. The housing market will surely take a little longer time to come out all the way from this stressful situation.

This is, however, an encouraging sign and is pleased to see it starting to go down but one more move would be an immense help to both the buyers as well as the sellers.

Some of the economists are of the view that it is not enough if the Reserve Bank of Australia reduces the interest rate by 0.25 per cent and that, as already stated, will not help the improvement of the housing market in any way. But they suggest that the Reserve Bank of Australia will have to make a 0.5 per cent cut to make sure that something is being passed on to the mortgage stressed customers. Because of the higher cost of money, the bank costs are rising and they are likely to hold on to some of the reduction.

Thus the act of the Reserve Bank of Australia in making cuts in the interest rate has in one way or another helped the persons who have been stressed out for repayment of the mortgage loan and hence the buyers will surely come forward to buy the property.

Rent to Buy is a new approach which provides home buyers the opportunity of home ownership without taking on debt. It works like a normal rental agreement within a normally 20%-30% rental payment which is put towards the price of the home.

As well as marine fish you can keep a selection of invertebrates in your salt water fish tank aquarium. Invertebrates are creatures without backbones, many of which are aquatic and can be kept in a saltwater fish tank. This class of creatures include squids, lobsters, shrimps, starfish, sea urchins, sea anemones, coral and feather stars. Other marine invertebrates include sea squirts, sea cucumbers, zoo plankton, lugworms and sea hares.

Marine invertebrates suitable for keeping in a salt water fish tank include sea anemones, corals, sea sponges, crabs, shrimp and snails.

Sea Anemones

Anemones can be kept in a salt water aquarium provided excellent water conditions are maintained. they also require intense lighting and a strong current. They can be fed on blood worms, pieces of shrimp and other meaty scraps.

Although anemones are predators most of the species kept in fish tanks have a symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae) that will provide the anemone with nourishment as long as the lighting conditions are correct. if you place Tube anemones, Carpet or magnificent anemones in your fish tank ensure there is sufficient space between them as they will sting, and possibly kill, each other. Some mobile species may also damage live coral and anemones may also eat other invertebrates such as crabs and urchins or smaller fish.

Sea Sponges

Sea sponges are simple organisms of the Porifera phylum with over 5000 species known. They have only one type of tissue but specialised cells. Sponges feed by filtering water for microplankton. In the fish tank sponges must be anchored to rocks. they require absolutely pristine water conditions, with strong water currents and low lighting to prevent algae from growing on them. They must never be exposed to air. feed with special foods for marine invertebrates.

Crabs

Crabs can range in size from an inch to more than twelve inches. Some familiar species of crabs are Hermit Crabs, Porcelain Crabs and Boxing Crabs. Crabs will eat any edible materials they can find. Some species burrow deeply during the day so provide them with a deep substrate. Crabs need reasonably good water quality and are very good in the fish tank for their scavenger duties cleaning up algae and uneaten food.

Shrimps

Shrimps are a good addition to a salt water fish tank being colourful and also cleaning up left over food. Most shrimp are between two and three inches long with some species growing to more than ten feet in the wild. They remove parasites from fish and rely on camouflage and stealth for protection. They have a hard carapace which is shed regularly to allow the shrimp to grow. When shed the shrimp is very vulnerable until a new shell grows so in the aquarium provide rocks and caves for your shrimp to hide. they can be fed on flaked foods, freeze dried or live foods.

Snails

There are more than 40,000 species of snails and they are found in all aquatic environments. The families usually used in fish tanks are Mesogastopoda, Littorinidae and Haliotidae from the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans. They are mostly reef snails and vary in size from half an inch to around 8 inches in the wild. Snails are good additions to a fish tank as they are scavengers and eat algae. Place one snail to every two gallons of water to deal with the algae. Snails will also need a calcium supplement for shell maintenance and they are very sensitive to higher nitrate levels. Their diet can be supplemented by the addition of vegetable based tablet foods, blanched lettuce, or dried seaweed.

Days before elections Joe Biden, the Vice-President-elect, told campaign donors: “Watch, we’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle [of Obama].” Did Joe Biden really have in mind al-Qaeda?

In Britain, security officials say that there is genuine concern that during the transition period al-Qaeda will attempt a “spectacular” attack. Other Security officials also are fearful of an attack. Barack Obama has been given advice by leaders of other nations.

Besides developing a certain proficiency in one-way-flights, al-Qaeda is known to have been experimenting with biological agents, particularly anthrax, which they acquire from dead animals. Now they are interested in creating a CBRN device (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear). The US has been preparing for this and has developed anti-CBRN units on constant patrol in main cities.

Why is al-Qaeda more threatened by Barack Obama than the Bush administration? Bush’s mentality and invasion of Iraq had damaged America’s image around the world and reinforced al-Qaeda’s narrative. Obama’s promise to reverse many of the policies of the Bush administration on issues such as detentions at Guantanamo, torture and the war in Iraq dramatically improved America’s image, especially in the Muslim world. Therefore, it will more difficult now for al-Qaeda to carry on their propaganda to the rest of the world that “America is still the evil crusader suppressing its own minorities”. Clearly the 2008 elections send the signal to the world that America is an open and tolerant society. Barack’s background makes him indeed a much tougher target to their propaganda attacks. These are good enough reasons to make al-Qaeda feel threatened.

Osama’s second in command (Ayman al-Zawahri) released a tape to Obama. The US officials said the message did not signal any increased threat against America. The message consisted of despicable insults against our new president along with the remark “the dogs of Afghanistan have found the flesh of your soldiers to be delicious, so send thousands after thousands to them”. Was the last remark a fearful warning or a provocation? Al-Qaeda always felt confident that they can handle a guerrilla war with us in the steep mountains of Afghanistan and defeat us as they did it the Soviets in the 1980s.

Charles Edmund Coyote writes in “W GOT HIS WAR” that before 9/11 bin Laden had sought battle with Americans, envisioning that a full sized ground invasion of Afghanistan, similar to that of the Soviets, would economically deplete the USA . “He [bin Laden] always wanted to draw the most powerful nation in the world into a guerrilla war in which his small but fanatical and experienced forces would gradually wear the great power down, bankrupting it by an unending conflict and the resultant destabilization of the Middle East and its oil resources on which America depended”. The chapter on bin Laden’s escape is FREE at “The Coyote Report”.

Bush’s attack on Iraq has cost $600 billion to date. This figure increases by millions of dollars every hour. Additionally there are future costs like long-term care for the wounded and disabled US soldiers, the replacement costs of the used up equipment, interest payments on the war debt, and the lost economic use of the resources and manpower squandered in war. Experts estimate that the already incurred out-of-pocket and future costs of Bush’s Iraq war to be $3 trillion, about the same cost as WW2. Robert Craig Roberts, the Father of Reaganomics, claims that these wars must end so that bankrupt Washington will be in a position to borrow from abroad the money it needs to bail out the US economy.

Let’s face it: we blew our opportunity to catch Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda’s leadership when the Bush Administration let them escape from Tora Bora, despite the CIA and the nearby US Marines asking for permission to surround and block their escape. The clumsy use of military forces to continue the Afghan war will likely turn it into a second Vietnam further draining the already weak American economy.

The low-cost, yet the most effective way to fight terrorism is to employ police and intelligence (CIA) with the intermittent use of military force when appropriate.
